This has been a big week for Judge Jim Spears, Red Engine Press, Fort Smith and Sebastian County, Arkansas. Jim spent decades researching and writing this book. It is not just an academic treatment of this material, useful for historians, teachers and members of the judiciary. It’s also an example of storytelling that encourages everyday readers to turn the page, gaze at the the pictures and enjoy the stories of those who saw history play out in their courtrooms.
As Jim spoke to The Fort Smith Historical Society on Monday, January 9th, the Rotary Club and the Fort Smith Museum of History on January 11th, the depth of his material equaled his sense of fun. Everyone of these audiences responded to his stories with amusement and a sense that they knew and liked their city just a little better.
Jim’s book, “Justice Divided” is available at Bookish at the Bakery in Fort Smith, The Fort Smith Museum of History Gift Shop, Chapters on Main in Van Buren and from the author himself.
