Diabetes Challenge: Insurance Changes

About two months ago, I got a blood glucose sensor system (Dexcom G7) that totally changed my way of managing my highs and lows. My blood sugar level was sent to my phone and I could read it from there. No more poking fingers.

Last week I got a letter from my health insurance company that they will no longer pay for the Dexcom unless I’m a type 1 diabetic. I’m type 2. After September 1st, I’d have to pay over $1000 to continue using the system. I’m contacting my doctor tomorrow to see what she can do to help.

Insurance is so messed up. Hopefully, I will be able to continue using a glucose system. Maybe another brand?
