This post was on Facebook today. You can help this Houston bookstore recover from Hurricane Beryl by your patronage.
Well, here we are again….cleaning up after a hurricane. Remind me why we live in Houston, again? Beryl was something special, and we’ve never had so much wind damage at the bookstore as this particular lady brought our way - notice the former awning hanging in shreds. That being said, the store had minimal water damage, and most importantly, we have power and internet, so we’re opening at noon today and ready to sell some books! We’re also very grateful for the minimal damage, all things considered.
For those in the Houston area, if you’re without power, we’ll have a cool space, free refreshments and plenty of power strips for device charging from 12-4 today. Please don’t hesitate to stop by! We’re happy to help with charging in forthcoming days as well. Our event with Meg Gardiner tonight is still happening, and we hope to have a good crowd for her, as her books are some of our staff favorites!
Every time we have a natural disaster in the Houston area, we get asked how people can help. Since you’ve asked again, please support us as always by buying books. Our local customers will be tied up with expenses, repairs, and lots of hassle after this devastating storm, and might not have the discretionary income or available bandwidth for book shopping. If you want to buy a gift card for future purchases, we would love that. If there’s a book for signing you’d like to preorder, that would be great too!
Thank you as always for your loyalty and support.
