Book Review: The Killing Spree by Anita Paddock

Writer: Mindy LawrenceMindy Lawrence

John Edward Swindler was fresh out of prison where he had learned nothing. His appearance was so frightening that he could make other inmates perform crimes, terrified of refusing him.

Anita Paddock has written an intriguing story about Swindler, the string of crimes he committed, and his meeting with Officer Randy Bassett of the Fort Smith, Arkansas Police Department.

Paddock brings this true story to life, writing about Swindler’s string of murders and rapes around Fort Smith, Arkansas. She did research and learned more about the story from the relatives of Randy Basnett.

The book talks about hideous crimes but is well written and very interesting. Like Truman Capote, Paddock’s greatest influence, she is not shy about writing the whole truth.
